One of the wives of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Olori Kafayat Adeyemi, has passed on barely two months after the demise of her husband, Oba Lamidi Adeyeye Adeyemi.
The deceased popularly known as Iya Ibeji, died on Friday, July 1, leaving the palace in mourning.
She was the fourth wife of the monarch and the mother of the Oyo State Local Government Pensions Board’s chairman, Prince Adebayo Adeyemi.
The Director of Media and Publicity at the Alaafin Palace, Mr Bode Durojaye, shared the news on Saturday, July 2. She is said to have died in the US.
He said, “She died in the United States of America. I will give you the details later.”
The cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
The late Alaafin of Oyo died in the late hours of Friday, April 23, 2022 at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.
