The candidate of the NRP, Funmilayo Jenyo, Akinteye Cornelius of ADP and Aminu Olarenwaju of APP had on Monday dropped their aspirations to contest the Saturday gubernatorial election in Ondo State. The trio had resolved to pitch their tent with the the Zenith Labour Party govenorship candidate, Hon. Agboola Ajayi.
KaftanPost correspondent also gathered that seven notable grassroots mobilizers and leaders of some other political parties also agreed to adopt and work for the ZLP candidate.
The leaders include Honourable Olugbemi Ogunbameru of SDP, Ajibola Falaye of Accord party, Hon.Olaoluwa Adesanya of APP, Prince Niran Toyin of APGA, Elder Felix Funso of APM, and Hon. Funmilayo Ataunoko of NRM.
While forming the coalition, all the candidates and party leaders told their crowd of followers that they had agreed to relinquish their ambition to pave way for the emergence of the ZLP candidate.
Speaking on behalf of other candidates, Comrade Akinteye Cornelius of the ADP affirmed, “the coalition agreed to the decision reached, after series of meetings and consultations.”
He further noted, “The alliance became necessary in order to find a workable solution to the unpalatable situation in Ondo State, where the state has been remotely controlled for the past four years without any viable and concrete things to show for it.
In the Light of this, all the governorship candidates who formed an alliance and adopted Honourable Agboola Ajayi hereby direct all their parties members and supporters to work for honourable Agbola Ajayi of ZLP and vote for his candidature as the Governor of Ondo State come October 10th, this week Saturday.”
He finally noted; “Honourable Agboola Ajayi has proven integrity and has the needed experience to take handle the leadership of the state,” he added.
