The city of Akure, Ondo State capital, witnessed a huge turnout of party members and supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as eminent members of the party stormed the Democracy Park in Akure, venue of the campaign flag-off.

Speaking at the event, the national chairman of the PDP campaign council for the Ondo State governorship election and the Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, expressed his faith in the party’s move to win the forthcoming Ondo State governorship election. He stressed that the October 10, 2020 poll in Ondo State is about restructuring Nigeria and not about 2023 Presidency election as opined by the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) during their governorship campaign flag-off last weekend.

In his words, “The Ondo State governorship election is about Ondo State voting for a party with the resolve to restructure Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, his counterpart from Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, on Saturday, called on the electorate of Ondo State to elect Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) on October 10, 2020. He however emphasised the need for the state electorates to prioritize the restoration of good dividends of democracy.

He however noted that it is unfortunate that the Ondo State INEC office was burnt. In his words, “We suspect foul play. We hereby call on all the police force and all other relevant agencies of the government to thoroughly investigate this ugly incidence until it’s unravelled.”
He maintained that the people of Ondo State must resolve to not only make their vote count but count their votes until victory is assured.

Also, in the roll call of party stalwarts present at the event was the Party’s National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, the past Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni, among several others cutting across the entire country.

While handing over the party’s flag to the governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, the national chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, enjoined the people of the state to vote enmasse for the PDP.

Climaxing the event, the flagbearer, Jegede, made a promise to deliver on the mandate towards delivering good governance in the state.
