In a new development on Tuesday, the Ondo State House of Assembly suspended another member and deputy minority leader, Hon. Tomide Akinribido representing Ondo West 1 Constituency.

KaftanPost correspondent gathered that Hon. Akinribido, who is the only Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) member in the Assembly, was suspended based on messages he sent to the lawmakers official social media platform after the crisis emanating from the issue of impeachment notice served on the embattled deputy governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi.

According to the report, Akinribido was said to have apologised for the alleged unwholesome messages, which the lawmakers earlier rejected.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, at the Assembly’s plenary noted that the suspended lawmaker would be made to face an ad-hoc committee that would look into the matter.

Consequently, the house thereafter instructed the Committee to investigate another lawmaker, Hon. Torhukerhijo Success, on the interview he granted a National newspaper regarding the recent power tussle and impeachment move at the assembly.

It would be recalled that as a result of the fallout of moves to impeach the embattled deputy governor of Ondo State, Bar. Agboola Ajayi, the duo of the House deputy Speaker, Hon. Iroju Ogundeji, and the member representing Ondo West constituency 2, Hon. Adewale Williams, were suspended in separate sessions apart from two others. The suspended lawmaker was also in the caucus of some nine lawmakers who dissociated themselves from the impeachment process through a signed document.

The recent suspension of Hon. Tomide Akinribido however makes it the fifth case in less than two months since the impeachment crisis started in the Assembly.
