The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu has assured that only valuable politicians will be able to clinch the party’s 2023 tickets for elections.
According to him, politicians who have not been able to connect with their people in the grassroots and impact them would be denied party tickets.
He made this claim on Tuesday at an event organized for supporters who recently defected to the PDP in Otukpo, Benue state.
According to the PDP boss, the time is over when politicians will be getting party tickets simply because they have big names or they have money.
“Under my leadership of the PDP, it will not just be about big men who have no connection with their people. If you are a big name in the PDP, let us know what you have done in your polling booths, in your wards and in your local governments.
“Those politicians who stay in Abuja and do not go to their people have no value to the PDP. Those who have value to the PDP are people who are always with their people. They are like fish that swim in the water.”
As the 2023 general elections draw closer, the PDP has expressed readiness to clinch power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
