Former Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema, is the perfect candidate to succeed Uche Secondus as the national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party.

This is according to the PDP coalition for Good Governance in a statement on Wednesday signed by its National coordinator, Adokwe Barnabas, and two others.

Recall that the opposition party had zoned its national chairmanship position to the north ahead of its October 31 national elective convention.

While the party’s stakeholders from the North Central, last night, unanimously adopted former Senate President, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, for the position, the Northwest settled for Shema.

Reacting to the development, the group hailed the region’s caucus for the choice of Shema.

“Ibrahim Shema, former deputy National Chairman, North of the PDP, two-time former Governor of Katsina state no doubt is the perfect man for the tilted position of the National Chairman of the PDP,” the statement said.

Expantiating on its support, the group pointed out that amongst the former governors, Shema towers above many in his delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Katsina and still remains one of the very best.

The statement added, “As a former deputy national chairman of the PDP, he comes, therefore, commended & prepared with a vast experience in party administration and capacity to balance all the contendingfaithfulnd tendencies within the party.

“As a lawyer of many years of legal practices, Governor shema is the man of the moment”.

The group therefore called on the party’s Governors, BOT, forum of PDP state chairman, women and youth constituency and indeed party faithfuls to stand firm, rally round and support the choice of the Northwest.
