PDP’s Adeleke wins Osun governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke as winner of the Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.

He defeated incumbent Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC to emerge winner.

He polled 401,793 votes to win the poll, while his rival, Oyetola, scored 350,283 votes to come second.

Adeleke won in 17 Local Governments, many of them with large majority, while Oyetola won in 13 Local Governments.

Boripe was the only council where Oyetola amassed wide majority, compared to Adeleke, who galloped away in Ede South and North and Osogbo.

The Returning Officer, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe on Sunday, made the announcement as he announced the final results.
