Pele now stable, responding to treatment — Hospital

Albert Einstein Hospital in Brazil has released a statement stating that Brazilian football legend, Pele, is now responding to treatment for a respiratory infection.

It was earlier reported that the football icon was moved to “palliative care” because his health deteriorated.

However, the hospital in a statement late Friday, said “He is still undergoing treatment and his health condition remains stable.

“He is responding well to care for a respiratory infection, and his condition has not changed in the last 24 hours.”

Pele, who has been at the hospital since Tuesday, is also undergoing cancer treatment.

The hospital added that Pele is getting antibiotics to treat an infection, as well as undergoing chemotherapy against cancer.
