Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang, has assured victims of the recent attack of justice.

Mutfwang said this on Tuesday following a series of Christmas Eve attacks in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas that claimed over 115 lives and displaced hundreds.

He stated that it is sad and disheartening that the season when peace, laughter, and joy should be shared in the communities in Plateau state is being stained by the actions of the evil-doers.

“Families that are meant to be celebrating are mourning. The state is mourning,” the Plateau Governor wrote on X.

“I spent my Christmas yesterday (Monday) with the Operation Safe Haven Troops in Mangu and reminded them that the trust the people and my administration have in them should not be in vain.

“Despite the recent attacks, we must stand firm. We will leave no stone unturned till we find the perpetrators and bring them to justice. We must protect our land.

“I urge everyone to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities for prompt security response. We must stand united and remember that everything we do should be for the good of our state.”

Also, during an interview on a Tuesday programme on television, Mutfwang described the attacks as “unprovoked”.

The governor slammed security agencies for their “reactionary strategy” instead of proactive measures.

He added that some schools in Barkin-Ladi have been occupied by terrorists for five years, children in those schools have had to relocate, and primary healthcare centres have also been abandoned.

The governor also pointed to the lack of arrests and prosecutions as a contributing factor to the ongoing crisis, noting that some citizens of the states feel their attackers are being protected.
