Police arrest Chadian rebel, others for banditry in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old Chadian rebel, Usman Mohammed and one Usman Hassan from Sokoto State for alleged banditry.

The duo were arrested last Wednesday in their hideout in Yantumaki village, in the Danmusa Local Government Area.

The spokesman for the police command, SP Gambo Isah, said the arrest followed credible and useful information about their activities.

Isah said, ” In the course of investigation Muhammed confessed to being a Chadian rebel in possession of various types of lethal weapons. Investigation is ongoing.”

The command spokesman also revealed that security operatives killed two bandits at Salihawa village, in the Batsari LGA on Sunday.

According to him, the bandits along with others had attacked the village on Sunday where they killed two villagers and rustled an unspecified number of animals.

Isah said the Divisional Police Officer of the area led Operation Puff Adder and Saharan Daji teams to engage the bandits, adding that the team, killed two bandits and recovered some of the rustled animals.
