Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic, got married to her husband, Fidelis Anosike, just days ago, 20th April 2022, and it was indeed the talk of the town kind of wedding.

Even the ants in the nation witnessed the wedding. We were all present at the venue right from the corners of our bedrooms, and offices.

The aso-ebi was so good, everyone looked fabulous in it and it quickly progressed into a fashion style competition which was more prevalent among the ladies because they looked so good in it.

The last time celebrities gathered in such a glamorous way was at Tiwa Savage’s party and Iyabo Ojo’s party.

However, contrary to the party where it was an event for almost all the celebrities in Nigeria, including Yoruba, Igbo and English celebrities, Rita’s wedding was attended but not with the attendance of well known celebrities.

This of course left many wondering about the situation of things in Nollywood. Is everything ok? Is there a form of division among these celebrities?

You often wonder why Nollywood celebrities are not referred to as Yorubas, Igbos until cases like events, or award shows occur. They are seen as one till these cases erupt.

Rita Dominic’s wedding was not a private affair, yet some celebrities couldn’t make it, reasons best known to them. Here is a list of celebrities that didn’t make it to Rita’s wedding.

Genevieve Nnaji
You would think that Nnaji, who has been away from the media for so long, was going to make a surprise appearance at Rita’s wedding but for where? In Pawpaw’s voice. She wasn’t present nor was her shadow.

Mercy Aigbe
The mother of owanbes who is always present at events either to rejoice with the celebrant or to showcase her latest design of aso ebi, however she wasn’t there. Could it be the distance or it’s the rivalry between the Igbo and Yoruba Nollywood industry.

Mercy Johnson
The mother of four must have had a lot on her hands to have missed the wedding. Not that Mercy is often seen at events but one would assume she would make an appearance as well.

RMD
Mr Richard, another lover of classy outfits was absent at the wedding. He has reacted to his absence, stating reasons he couldn’t make it. He said he was far away from the country.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde
Omotola, who was also absent, has reacted to the wedding. She congratulated Rita and warned her husband to behave or he would face the consequences. She wrote, “… Fidelis my friend, you know we love you but won’t hesitate to run you up if you mess with our girl. Trust you though. Love your matured love and support.

“May God bless your marriage with all things prosperous.”

Kate Henshaw
The slim fit actress was nowhere to be found at Rita’s wedding. It’s not clear why the actress was not present at the wedding and she hasn’t publicly reached out as well. However she was present at the bridal shower.

Omoni Oboli
The actress was also absent at Rita’s wedding. Her location on her Instagram page showed she is currently at a different location shooting a movie.

Toyin Abraham
It’s no news that the Yoruba celebrities who are known to show support for their colleagues were surprisingly absent at Rita’s wedding. Could it be the distance, location or something more?

Ada Ameh
“The Johnsons” actress was not seen at the party as well, reasons best known to her.

Ramsey Nouah
The ever dashing actor was also absent at Rita’s wedding.

Other actresses that were not present include Nkechi Blessing, Destiny Etiko, Annie Idibia, Oge Okoye, Stephanie Okereke, Chika Ike, Nkiru Sylvanus.

At first, you would assume that there is some sort of bad blood between the Igbo tribe in Nollywood and Yoruba Nollywood actors, however, even people from her side, especially people who were in her circle in the 1990s, were not there.

When there were congratulatory messages flying on social media, only a few of these listed showed support online.

Another surprising thing about Rita’s wedding no matter how colourful and exciting the wedding was, is that the beau, Fidelis Anosike, is a serial husband.

Unknown to many, Fidelis, who is the owner of Daily Times, has been married twice before Rita. They all failed.

Although no one can determine when the couple started dating as Rita is known to be a private person, Fidelis is well known to a group of persons with his name written in their bad books.

His first wife, Chioma, hails from Orlu in Nigeria and his second wife, Sidi hails from Bidar in Niger state. Sidi is also the mother of Fidelis’s children, although the family is completely kept out of the media.

Both women were reported to have divorced Fidelis, for reasons not reported to the public.

According to an interview he granted some time ago, Fidelis claimed to have gotten Daily Times when he was just 35 years. He claimed that the publishing house was up for sale and the initial public offer declined and he took that up.

He is a publisher at the Daily Times and also the founder of a multi million naira company called Folio media group.

The Anambra born businessman who lived his early life in Imo state is said to have moved on with his life after the failed two marriages till he met Rita at the African International film festival in 2017.

They began their romantic journey in private until the award winning actress decided to wow us on boxing day in 2020, showing lovely pictures of herself with her husband, Fidelis.

The two went lowkey afterwards till their wedding was announced in 2022. They got married on April 19, 2022 in Aboh Mbaise in Imo state.

The man’s journey is worth emulating, as he is known to be down to earth even with the wealth he has acquired, until you hear about some ugly claims by some reports stating how Fidelis Anosike and a Nuel Anosike were allegedly involved in defrauding Daily Times of some money years ago. A lot of money was linked to them.

They were charged with at least four to six crimes including theft, fraud, acquiring vehicles and properties through dubious means, e.t.c. They were charged to court and the case was adjourned to September 27, 2010 but there was no further information about the case since then.
