American rapper, Rakim Mayers, also known as ASAP Rocky, has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department over a shooting that occurred last year.
According to reports, he was arrested Wednesday at Los Angeles International Airport in connection with a shooting in November, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
He was arriving on a private plane from Barbados, where he had been on vacation with his heavily pregnant girlfriend, Rihanna.
The Police Department took to their Twitter page on Wednesday to make the announcement.
The tweet read, “33-year-old Rakim Mayers, a Los Angeles resident, also known as music artist A$AP Rocky, has been arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred in the Hollywood area in November of 2021.”
The Los Angeles Police Department gave the details of the November incident. They claimed that the rapper shot at a victim after an altercation occurred between them.
Although the victim survived, he escaped with some minor injuries.
The statement read, “On November 6, 2021 around 10:15pm, an argument between two acquaintances occurred in the area of Selma Avenue and Argyle Avenue, in the Hollywood Area.
“The argument escalated and resulted in the suspect firing a handgun at the victim. The victim sustained a minor injury from the incident, and later sought his medical treatment.
“Following the shooting, the two additional males fled the area on foot.”
According to L.A County Sheriff’s Department booking reports, ASAP Rocky has since been released on bail. He was booked into jail at 12:42 p.m. and bail was set at $550,000.
He was released three hours after his arrest and a court date is set for August 17, 2022. His arrest is coming just days after his rumour of possible split with his girlfriend broke into the media.
A rumour had started from a tweet stating that the rapper cheated on Rihanna with her shoe designer. The rumour lasted for a few hours before it was shut down by the shoe designer, Amina Muaddi.
Shortly after that, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky were spotted in a series of pictures together on a trip to Barbados.
