Popular fuji artiste, Akorede Okunola, also known as Saheed Osupa, has stated reasons behind his decision to further his education even at an older age.
Recall that the singer shocked his fans by posting a picture of himself after his last paper as a political science student, some months back.
He was seen in the midst of some students who were taking turns to sign on his white tee shirt as it is a tradition among university students.
In a new interview, Saheed stated that he wanted to fulfil his mother’s wish by going back to school. He added that it was also his wish to seek more knowledge.
According to him, he had something to prove to the world that fuji artistes can fit into the world just like every other entertainer and he needed to achieve that by going back to school.
He said, “My going back to school was not accidental as it still goes with my mother’s wish for me. I have always desired to seek more knowledge by going back to school.
“Meanwhile, I also want to prove to the world that musicians, particularly Fuji artistes, can fit into any setting and organisation.
“Truly, I have achieved a lot as a music entertainer, but I need to still equip myself the more, while also preparing for the future.”
He also added reasons he chose political science. Saheed said he needed to enhance his knowledge since he sings about philosophy and leadership.
Contrary to people’s view on why he studied political science, he said he has no ambition to go into politics for now.
“My love for good governance made me choose Political Science. As an artiste who sings a lot about leadership and philosophy, I believe studying such a course would enhance my knowledge.
“I currently don’t have any plan to go into politics, but let’s see what the future holds,” he said.
