President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky has slammed the attack of Ukraine’s nuclear plant by Russian forces.
In a statement released on Friday, Zelensky described the attack as ‘terror’.
“We survived a night that could have stopped the story, the history of Ukraine, the history of Europe. Russian troops attacked the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
‘’The largest in Europe. She alone could be like six Chernobyls. Russian tankers knew what they were firing at. Directly aiming at the station. This is terror of an unprecedented level.
“Russian people, I’d like to address to you. How is it possible at all? Together in 1986 we struggled with the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster. You must remember the burning graphite scattered by the explosion, the victims.
‘’You must remember the glow above the destroyed power unit. You must remember the evacuation from Pripyat and the 30 km zone. How can you forget it?” Zelensky rhetorically asked.
Speaking further Zelensky said Russia would have their share of the contamination: “If you remember, you can’t stay silent. You should tell you government, get down to streets and tell your government that you want to live.
“You want to live on land without radioactive contamination. Radiation does not know where Russia lies. Radiation does not know where the border of your country lies.
“The capital remains a key target for the occupiers. But they will not break us; they will not break our state. Never, no matter what they do, they still lose. Because we are at home. We are on our own land,” Zelensky concluded.
