The National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, on Saturday asked the Deputy National Chairman (South), Yemi Akinwomi, to preside over the National Executive Committee meeting of the party in his stead.

In a letter to Akinwomi, Secondus said, “I hereby request you to preside over the National Executive Committee meeting of the Party, taking place today, 28th August, 2021@ 12 noon, in my absence.

“Thank you. “

This is happening after Akinwoni paraded himself as the authentic national chairman of the opposition party after a Rivers State court sacked Uche Secondus but the crisis was eventually resolved.

“I am a man of peace, not a man of crisis. PDP has a good succession order. There is order here. The chairman is followed by the deputy national chairman one (South), followed by the deputy national chairman two (north),” he had said.

Meanwhile, the PDP on Saturday announced Abuja as the venue of its elective National Convention scheduled for October 30-31.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the announcement after the 92nd National Executive Committee meeting of the party in Abuja on Saturday.

He added that the body also resolved to meet on September 9th to ratify appointments into the various committees for the convention.
