Veteran singer and actor, Bankole Wellington, professionally known as Banky W, has reacted to the reopening of the Lekki Toll gate.

Banky W has referred to the act as lack of empathy shown by the Lagos State Government to the citizens.

Recall that the Lekki-Ikoyi Toll Plaza and the one inward Lekki was temporarily shut down during the #EndSARS protest in October 2020.

However, in a new twist, the Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC) had announced that operations will commence on April 15 after it reopens on April 1.

Banky took to his Twitter page to lament over the reopening, which he considered to be bad timing and unfair to the citizens of the state.

His tweet read, “The intended resumption of collections at the Lekki toll gate is yet another example of a serious lack of empathy by the Lagos State Govt. Life in Nigeria has been extremely difficult.

“Lagos State is exhibiting a blatant disregard – not just for the pain felt by all the young people who were hurt by the events of #EndSARS, but also the pain and difficulty being experienced by the majority of Lagosians just trying to survive in these difficult times.”
