Nollywood actress and politician, Tonto Dikeh, has reacted to the gubernatorial loss following the elections.
The mother of one who had contested for the post of the Deputy Governor of Rivers state under the African Democratic Party (ADC), on Wednesday, March 22, shared a lengthy post to thank her supporters.
Recall that the actress had stepped down to form an alliance with the APC candidate.
An excerpt of her post read, “Dear fellow citizens, The 2023 General Election has been an incredible journey, filled with both triumphs and disappointments. But as I reflect on the experience, I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of it all, especially for being considered the Deputy Governorship candidate under the prestigious platform of AfricaDemocratic Congress (ADC) with his Excellency, Hon. @tonteibraye I do not take this for granted.
“I want to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who supported me throughout this campaign. First to Almighty God for granting me the grace, second to my family, I am indebted for their unwavering love and support, thirdly To the good people of Rivers State, I am humbled by your belief in me, and I promise to continue fighting for you in any way that I can… ”
She also thanked Funke Akindele who had contested under the People Democratic Party (PDP) for her courage throughout the journey.
She wrote, “4thly I would to love to give @funkejenifaakindele her flower for standing up for LAGOS STATE.For me it has always been about integrity not PARTY
“As a woman, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to participate in politics. But I urge my fellow women not to be discouraged. Instead, let us support each other, regardless of political affiliation. Also i know I may have offended some people during this course, hence I ask for forgiveness… ”
