It’s no news that talented Nollywood actresses and rivals, Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele, have resumed their online battle over their movies that were released during the festive season.
Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham released Battle on Buka Street and Ijakumo respectively in December, 2022.
Since then, the two as always have been battling for the highest-grossing movie of 2022.
Both actresses have been promoting the movie with Reel videos, celebrity meet and greet, etc.
On December 28, Funke celebrated her movie at N200 million in 12 days while Toyin celebrated her movie at 65 million.
Funke also noted that her movie will be shown in the UK and USA for a week. “USA!!!! We are here!!! Battle on Buka Street here!! Grab your tickets fast!!! In a few hours, we take over USA! Battle on Buka Street releases on the 30th of December 2022, exclusively at selected @regalmovies Theatres with Advanced Screening on the 29th,” her caption read.
Battle on Buka street became the biggest single-day earner in Nollywood in 2022.
Toyin on her part stated that her movie became the highest single day for N20 million for an 18-rated movie. “Highest single day for an 18-rated indigenous language film in 2022 N20million on 26/12/2022…..For a movie rated 18 in a festive period. I work so hard joor. Thank you so much Nigerians, thanks Toyintitans,” she said.
Their fans have also noticed their animosity. A fan of Funke stated that she trolled Toyin for making an obvious shade to Funke.
The fan said, “Congrats dear Anty Funke with a beautiful heart don’t mind toyin Abraham always fighting the unknown and throwing shade I had to tell her my mind yesterday saying real people with real reviews then I asleep her who come Dey post fake reviews and fake people and she should stop fighting the unknown that the sky is big enough for everyone she block me.God bless you your movie will be top most Nigerian movie and so many award awaits all the cast and crew.”
