American television personality, Anani Nicole, professionally known as La La Anthony, has filed for divorce after years of separation from husband, Carmelo Anthony.
La La Anthony was reported to have separated from her husband after a report of cheating issue had surfaced in their marriage. The husband was accused of having extra-marital affairs and fathering a child outside their marriage.
The couple have tried to reconcile over the years but apparently couldn’t.
According to TMZ, La La filed on Thursday with the reason for the divorce cited as “irreconcilable differences.”
Sources claimed the estranged couple have been separated for some time and that the divorce is an amicable one. According to the source, the couple had a long drag of separation and divorce processing in order to ensure that their 14-year-old son, Kiyan, would have a “smooth transition” of how things unfold in their lives after the divorce.
Their son just graduated from middle school and is on his moving on to high school.
There were leaked pictures of the estranged husband and a woman as they were released to the media just days before Lala’s 36th birthday.
The last public appearance she had with Carmelo was at an NBA game in 2019 while attempting to help Kiyan Facetime with his father in the middle of it. Privately, the family came together to quarantine last spring.
The source reaffirmed that the attention seems to be on their son, Kiyan.
She told Access Hollywood at that time of quarantine, “I’m on the West Coast. I have a bunch of my family with me. My son, obviously, is here.
“I was in New York, and I just felt like it was time to get out of New York. I was like, ‘You know, this is not the place to quarantine at anymore. It’s time to go.’ So I grabbed some of my nieces, family members, Kiyan, and we came out west and we are just quarantining now together. Melo is — he’s here somewhere,” she said.
La La and Carmelo first started dating in 2003 and became engaged in 2004. They welcomed son Kiyan in 2007 and married at Cipriani 42nd street in July 2010.
