Nollywood actor, Hanks Anuku, has revealed what led to his alcoholism and how he has been dealing with it.
In a video on his Instagram page, Hanks said he started drinking out of depression because of his financial troubles.
He said he was in deep thoughts about the welfare of his children and family, especially their school fees.
According to him, the drinking had made things worse for him but he wouldn’t stop the dangerous habit because he was still depressed.
However, he denied the rumours that he takes hard drugs. He said he only drinks.
He said, “Yes, depression makes me drink but I never take hard drugs, I don’t take hard drugs at all.
“Out of depression, I did not have a job for years, I was thinking about my children, their school fees and their welfare among other things and you know what it is like when it gets to that point.
“I call it a breaking point, I was broken to pieces and I had to go drinking and that is it.”
The actor has been allegedly found in different states begging for alms, in some cases, he was rumoured to have been in tattered clothes looking mentally unstable.
Some of his colleagues had testified that he was uncared for. While some called out the agencies in Nollywood, others blamed the actor for the use of hard drugs.
He had made videos countless times to deny the allegations.
