Clergyman Ituah Ighodalo of Trinity House Church, Lagos, has revealed how he was able to remain active when his wife, Ibidunni, died.

Recall that the pastor in 2020 had lost his second wife, an ex-beauty queen, Ibidunni Ighodalo, to a heart attack in her sleep on June 14, that year.

In a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo, published on Wednesday, Pastor Ituah said he had promised a woman a day before his wife died to officiate her son’s funeral.

According to him, Ibidunni had been healthy a few hours before her death. He said she had died in her sleep around 2am.

Pastor Ituah said he had gone to church the next morning, had preached the gospel, gone to his mother-in-law’s house to comfort her, then to the woman who lost her son.

He said he returned home to begin a search for his wife who had died.

Chude Jideonwo had asked the clergyman how he had been able to attend to other people on the day his wife died.

Pastor Ituah said, “Let’s call it the grace of God. And not dwelling in your sorrow. There is always something greater than yourself. That lady, I had given her my word, I gave her my word on a Friday, then my wife dies on a Sunday morning, 2am.

“And I had given her that date, 1 O’Clock, that I would help her bury her son. My wife was hale and hearty at 11pm on Saturday, she died at 2am.

“It wasn’t in the calculation and when I had realized that she had died, I asked God a few questions and he gave me my answer, then I said what do I do and he says carry on with what you have to do.

“So I asked him for courage and he gave it to me and I stepped out that morning and first of all went to church and preached the message.

“I then left church and went to see my mother in-law, I comforted her, I begged her and I prayed with her and then I went to do the funeral as I had promised. When I had finished the funeral, I went back to my house and then started looking for my wife.”

They got married in 2007 after the clergyman had a failed marriage with his first wife, Lucy-Ann Suinner who he married in 1995.
