The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Tarmuwa Local Government Area in Yobe State, Bamaina Mafawu, has decamped to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

He is understood to have left the PDP alongside the acting state secretary, Hassan Muhammad, the youth leader, Abdullahi Umar, the women leader as well as ward leaders of the local government on Monday.

The former Tarmuwa PDP chairman in a statement noted that the mass defection of party loyalists to the APC has deflated PDP’s influence in the LGA, as well as the state in general.

The former chairman, who didn’t state the reason he and his loyalist left the party remarked that “We were the strength of the party and we have all left, PDP is now non-existent and a shadow of itself in Tarmuwa.”

The new members of the ruling APC however promised to work for the party to ensure its victory next year in the general election.

The governor, who welcomed the decampees promised them equal rights and privileges provided by the party to its members.

He also appealed to them to remain loyal to the party and its leaders now that they are part of the family.
