The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has expressed confidence that the ruling party will win the 2023 general election with 43 million votes if the conduct is free and fair.

Adamu made the assertion while receiving the Ambassador of Poland to Nigeria, Joanna Tarnawska, in his office on Wednesday.

In his words, “With the massive support the party enjoyed from over 43 million Nigerians, there is no way the party will lose the 2023 elections.

“The APC was conscious of the effects of developments in Nigeria on other African countries and we are prepared to conduct ourselves at the next elections according to international best practices.

“Nigeria is a developing democratic nation and lessons are being learnt in electoral processes. But the APC will continue to do everything to advance democratic practice in Nigeria.”

Adamu also informed the Polish ambassador that, as a result of the opportunities created by the APC, a female governorship candidate emerged from the party in conservative northern Nigeria.

The Polish ambassador, who was visiting the chairman after the successful national convention which produced a presidential flagbearer for the party, had earlier congratulated him on his election as chairman.

She stated that her country was interested in political developments in Nigeria and would like to see a peaceful transition to another president when the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari ends next year.
