2023: Buhari orders Malami, Amaechi, Ngige, others to resign

President Muhammadu Buhari has asked all members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) contesting elective positions in 2023 to resign.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, announced this while briefing State House reporters on the outcome of the federal cabinet meeting presided over by Buhari at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He said the ministers have been given up till May 16, 2023, to quit the cabinet.

They are expected to handover duties and responsibilities to their Permanent Secretaries within the stipulated time.

Among the ministers eyeing elective seats are Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation), Chris Ngige (Labour), Abubakar Malami (Justice), Godswill Akpabio (Niger Delta).

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajuiba is the first to resign to contest for the presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He declared his intention last two weeks and has bought the N100million nomination form of the ruling Party.
