The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has promised to end poverty if elected in 2023.

Adebayo, who campaigns with the motto ‘Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity’, said he will achieve this by ensuring food security, providing adequate housing and primary healthcare as well as returning to the initial investment in education.

Speaking to Voice of Nigeria, he said “We will make sure that we have food security, adequate housing for our people, make primary health care available at a low cost or no cost and return to the initial investment we made in education where Christian missionaries built more schools than church parishes, where Islamic scholars created one mosque per 20 schools”.

The renowned legal practitioner added that Nigeria will be a country to beat if the nation is focused and run well.

The Presidential hopeful asserted that Nigeria has the best prospect in the world while stressing that “even in the worst times, our prospects are better than most countries in their best times.”

While lamenting the leadership problem in the country, he noted that leadership in democracy is reversed “because leadership is in the hands of the electorates.”

He added that “No leader comes to power without the electorates sending the leader to power. So I felt that I should come in and empower the electorates to understand the reason why we are a republic, the meaning of our sovereignty and the decision that we make every four years or so to appoint agents to run our country for us.

“If our people understand that that’s where the solution lies, then they will be more careful in choosing as they are careful in most decisions they make in their personal life.

” If we do that, we don’t have any problem in Nigeria that cannot go away in the life of one administration.

“We don’t have any reasons to be despotant, we are a great country, we are endowed by God with the right size, the right resources, the right combination of diversity. So if what we do is just focus and run our affairs well, we are the country to beat. ”
