The candidate of the Social Democratic party (SDP), in the 2023 presidential election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has charged the Federal government of Nigeria to adopt the use of electronics voting for the betterment of the nation.
According to him, it would allow essential workers be partakers during election.
Adebayo made this known on Monday on a radio program in Akure, which was monitored by Kaftan Post.
The media proprietor also emphasized on the need for Nigerian youths to come out and participate in the politics of their father’s land.
“It is a known fact that Nigerian youths are doing tremendously well in their various businesses and if allowed to bring such zeal into the politics, they will also do well.
“How old was Nnamdi Azikwe, Obafemi Awolowo and Tafawa Balewa during their time? They performed wonderfully well, so the youths should be given the enabling environment to take up the mantle.”
Adewole also said that the old ones ruling in the past twenty-two years have exhausted all their God given ideas and therefore, youths should come out to reshape the country for better.
On the issue of media freedom, the media proprietor and legal Icon noted the expansion in the media space and called for support from the Federal Government. He urged the government to reduce the licencing fee charged as the media is the fourth estate of the realm like other arms of the government.
“The attitude of government should change towards the media, they should be see it as the real fourth estate of the realm.
“Journalists should also be given the opportunity to call on the governor to demand for his stewardship like the legislature and not when they want to do cosmetic projects.”
On election factor, the aspirant said it is becoming more expensive to run an election which is never appropriated saying almost 80% of the revenue is shared outside the law which has affected and is still affecting the nation.
He said that the government has not been so prudent with the resources available which could be traced to why many things are no longer working in the country.
