Presidential hopeful, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has promised to spring surprises during next year’s general elections.
The renowned legal practitioner, speaking with Trust TV today, said just like the #EndSARS protest that took the country by storm in October 2020, he will shock his critics, especially the ruling party.
Unlike his contemporaries, however, Adebayo, who uses the campaign slogan HopeForNigeria2023, has opted to keep his cards close to his chest in terms of his techniques.
According to him, doing so would avoid the possibility of the incumbent countering his ideas.
“I have gone round many of the states and I am still going round and I am saying the people are there. There are people across the country on ground waiting for you to propagate the idea of your party,” he said.
“We have learnt that when we go out to the media, we try not to telegraph most of our techniques because it’s a competition. Those who have the incumbency now can try to counter it. So let them be laughing at us. Just like the #EndSARS people, we will surprise them on Election Day”.
Adebayo, who recently received the blessing of former Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, also pledged to continue his “listening tour”.
“We are trying to fuse their opinion and solution into a national mesh,” he added.
When asked about the country’s current economic and security challenges, he said “I feel sad but not intimated”.
According to him, “the problem has only one source and solution – good governance.
“We have not had good governance in a long time. This has degenerated into no government at all. The streets look unpoliced. The government looks unadministered. From the highest level you could see failure. Go to the ministries, you will see.
“Governance is not hard, it’s just like sweeping your house. This doesn’t require rocket science. But until you take a broom and sweep, the room will remain untidy. Governance is about doing little things”.
Adebayo is a leading member of the Third Force Coalition – a group of prominent professionals with a common drive to end the over two-decade misrule of the All Progressives Congress and People’s Democratic Party.
