Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN on Monday announced the sack of his Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adekola Olawoye (SAN), replacing him with Charles Titiloye.

This development was contained in a Press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Akeredolu, Segun Ajiboye, which reads:

“Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has rejigged his cabinet.

Following this, he has appointed frontline human rights lawyer, Sir Charles Titiloye as his new Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.”

While describing the newly appointed Justice Commissioner, the governor noted;

“Titiloye is a human right activist and a renowned social critic. He was former Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Akure Branch.

“A devout Christian, Charles Titiloye is a Knight of the Catholic Church of the order of Saint Mulumba.

“His name will be forwarded to the state House of Assembly for confirmation.”

Concluding the release, he stated;

“Mr. Governor thanks the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adekola Olawoye that has just been removed for services rendered to the state.

“He wishes him success in his future endeavours.”

Although the reason for the removed appointee was not stated, comments in some quarters as obtained by KaftanPost correspondent suggested that Olawoye’s is not unconnected with the recent Court order granted to some four suspended members of the Assembly headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Iroju Ogundeji.

It would be recalled that just last week after the pronouncement was made at the Akure High Court, the affected lawmakers went to the assembly complex to resume their legislative duty but were prevented entry by security operatives at the entrance.

In a bid to establish if the reason insinuated for the Commissioner’s sack was valid or just a mere rumour, KaftanPost correspondent reached out to not less than three key political appointees in the governor Akeredolu-led administration but none of them answered the phone calls as at the time of filing this report.
