FORMER Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has thrown weight behind the presidential ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Fani-Kayode, who stated this when he featured in a Channels Television programme, Politics Today, described the ex-Lagos State governor as a witty politician with a huge pedigree at the highest level of Nigeria’s politics.
The ex-minister was emphatic in his assessment of the APC candidate’s chances against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar who he described as a formidable politician.
He, however, dismissed insinuations that the contest between the two veteran politicians would be a walkover for Tinubu.
He also declared that the APC flag bearer would do more to enhance Nigeria’s unity than Atiku if elected as the country’s president in 2023.
According to him, Atiku is unfit to rule the country at this critical time.
Fani-Kayode said: “Atiku is unfit to rule Nigeria at this critical time. The country needs someone better, more experienced, and more formidable. The party he is running from is filled with a lot of contradictions. So Tinubu is a better shot for Nigeria at the moment. He has been in the game for years and has done a lot. He will definitely enhance Nigeria’s unity more than Atiku.
“This is not 2005. All of us will work decisively against Atiku in order to ensure that APC wins. With the support of the government, the President, and other supporters, APC will clinch the presidency come 2023.
“I’m confident APC will win the forthcoming elections. We know Atiku is capable and filled with a network. We won’t underestimate him. But, hopefully, we’ll defeat him.”
