Brazilian football icon Pele, has died.
He died on Thursday at the age of 82, his family said.
Widely regarded as the greatest player of all time and a three-time World Cup winner who masterminded the “beautiful game,” Pele died at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo following a battle with cancer.
“Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace,” daughter Kely Nascimento wrote on Instagram.
Also, a message from Pele’s official Twitter account on Thursday read: “Inspiration and love marked the journey of King Pelé, who peacefully passed away today. Love, love and love, forever.”
