The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen has disclosed that 250 judicial officers will sit on the 2019 election petitions panel. The panels comprise of National Assembly Election Petition Tribunals, Governorship Election Petition Tribunals, and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunals.Members of the election petition tribunals, according to the CJN’s media aide, Bassey Awassam, will be sworn in tomorrow at the Supreme Court complex. Speculation is rife that Onnoghen’s travail in the hands of the Federal Government is not unconnected with the composition of the election petition panels. A source close to the CJN who spoke on ground of annonimity said the Federal Government wanted to get rid of Onnoghen in order to install a CJN, who will do its bidding in the post 2019 general election petitions panels.
