The Nigerian Force has responded to harassment allegations made by Afrobeat singer, Daniel Benson, aka Buju BNXN
A tweet made by the singer had generated a lot of reactions by Nigerians who are quick to react to police brutality.
The singer stated that he had spat on a police officer who harassed him and it felt good.
The tweet read, “Spat at a police officer’s face and it felt so good. I let you into my car and you dragged and tear my shirt and start slapping me? Nah everybody must stop.”
A video had also gone viral about the act. BNXN was seen going back and forth as the police caused a scene on the streets of Lagos.
In reaction to this, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Ben Hundeyin, claimed that the officers at the scene will be questioned and if found guilty, they would be punished.
Hundeyin’s tweet also claimed that the singer will equally be sanctioned if found guilty of what he tweeted about assaulting a police officer.
He posted a screenshot of BNXN’s now deleted tweet. His tweet read, “@BNXN proudly tweeted that he ‘spat in a police officer’s face and it felt so good.’ He has since deleted the tweet.
“The police officers will be sanctioned for their misbehavior if established, while @BNXN will surely answer for his assault on a police officer.”
