Justice Patricia Ajoku of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, on Wednesday remanded a suspected fake travelling agent, Bashiru Enahoro, over an alleged N11 million fraud.

Ajoku ordered Enahoro to be remanded in Agodi Correctional Centre and adjourned the suit until April 29 for hearing on bail application.

The defendant had, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Earlier, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr A. S. Suleiman, had told the court that the defendant was facing an 11-count charge bordering on impersonation and obtaining money under false pretence.

Suleiman said the accused person committed the crime between December 2017 and May 2018 in Ibadan.

According to the prosecutor, Enahoro, at various times, obtained the total amount of N11 million from one Stanley Ekwerelam after he had falsely presented himself as a travelling agent to him.

“Enahoro deceived Ekwerelam that he would secure an Australian work permit for him and therefore, obtained the money from him,” Suleiman said.

He added that the offences contravened Sections 1 and 1(3) of Advanced Free Fraud 2006.
