The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that the country’s airports will likely resume on June 21, 2020.
This was disclosed by Bashir Ahmed, the Personal Assistant on New Media to President Buhari through his twitter handle, @BashirAhmaad.
“The Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 has requested the Aviation Industry to start developing protocols for domestic flights to possibly resume from June 21.”
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had recently released guidelines for reopening, which preceded the recent announcement of the reopening.
Recall that as a measure of containment of the ravaging coronavirus pandemic across the globe, Nigeria joined other countries in closing the airports due to its positioning as the gateway between countries of the world and Nigeria.
The airports have been shut down for two months.
