American actor, Johnny Depp, has won the defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard, with the final response from the seven jury who read the verdict.

His ex-wife, Amber, has been ordered to pay a total of $15 million to Johnny ($10 million in damages and $5 million in punitive damages). He will also pay Amber a sum of $2 million.

The trial which has been ongoing for weeks since April ended after a 14 hours deliberation by the jury. The jury in Fairfax, Virginia, began deliberating Friday.

Johnny had sued Amber for defamation over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post where she was seen as a representative for domestic abuse. She was “a public figure representing domestic abuse.”

The article had hindered Johnny’s acting career even though his name wasn’t mentioned in the article, according to him.

Amber had also countersued Johnny for $100 million over statements Johnny’s attorney made about her abuse claims.

The case since the beginning of trial had revealed bizarre information about the couple. From Amber’s confessions, to Johnny’s video showing Amber using a cigarette on his face, to the missing fingertip, to Amber’s spat, it has been a whole series in court.

The Jurors and media have heard over a 100 hours of testimony altogether. They’ve heard from dozens of witnesses, including live testimony from Depp and Heard.

The couple met in 2009 and were married from 2015-2016.
