Having recorded three cases of COVID19 and one death, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has on Tuesday 14th of April, 2020 announced that the stay-at-home order in Delta State will be extended for another two weeks.

Accoding to the governor of delta State, “working round-the-clock to curb the spread of the virus is the goal this period. This is why, I announced a two-week extension of the stay-at-home order, as well as a 7pm to 7am curfew”

The Delta state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa further noted that the state government will begin the process of distributing free face masks across Delta State which apparently is in line with the recommendations of global health experts.

While some Deltans applauded this act, some others were indifferent saying that ”Hunger will kill more Deltans before the Corona Virus does”.

Sequel to this, the Governor informed the citizens and residents not to panic pointing out that the state government is working to fast-track the distribution of food items to low-income families and communities to cushion the effect of the lockdown.

Furthermore he noted that some of the mini markets in the state will be opened atleast thrice a week to grant access to those who want to purchase food stuff during the lockdown period and urges Local government authorities to wait for directives.
