The former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, has dismissed reports making the round that he is part of the newly formed political party, Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP).

Reports had emerged on Tuesday, stating that Duke, alongside former INEC boss, Attahiru Jega; former governor of Kwara State, Ahmed Abdulfatai; Prof. Pat Utomi, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, Senator Lee Maeba, Usman Bugaje, Amb. Nkoyo Toyo, Yomi Awoniyi, Dr. Rose Idi Danladi, Dr. Sadiq Gombe, among others, are founding members of the new party.

The party said it wants to give Nigerians an alternative platform to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, the former Cross River Governor, in his reaction, stressed that he is still a member of the main opposition party, PDP.

In his words, “While I do not contest the intentions of the conveners of the Rescue Nigeria Project, I wish to state categorically, I am not a part of its formation and hereby reconfirm I’m a bona fide member of the People’s Democratic Party and a member of its Board of Trustees. Thank you.”
