The Nigerian Army has denied reports that it shot #EndSARS protesters on Tuesday evening at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos State.
In a tweet on Tuesday night, the Army described the news as “Fake News”.
In another tweet on Wednesday morning, the Army wrote “Be Aware” attaching images of some reports which it also described as “fake news”.
Eyewitnesses had said masked men invaded the area dressed in military uniform and began shooting at them.
This came on the same day ghe Army launched its annual operation themed ‘Crocodile Smile’.
Some days ago, the Army warned it would defend Nigeria’s democracy and would not hesitate to deal with “trouble makers” as #EndSARS protest continued to spread nationwide.
Several persons were shot dead during the bloodbath on Tuesday night.
The state government said it ordered investigation into the shooting.
