Veteran filmmaker, Wale Fana, has passed on at the age of 72. His death was announced by a friend, Jide Bisayo, on Sunday.
The deceased up to his death was the managing director of Cinekraft, one of the first production houses in Nollywood industry.
Bisayo paid his tribute, stating that the deceased was one of the foremost filmmakers who contributed to the birth of Nollywood. He referred to the filmmaker as a creative genius, who is never tired.
He wrote, “In the beginning while Nollywood was still an embryo, there was CINEKRAFT. Cinekraft in no small way contributed to the birthing of the nascent industry.
“Behind Cinekraft administration and production management was one indefatigable, never tiring creative soul, my boss, Wale Fanu.
“Uncle Wales (as I like calling you), rest in the bosom of the Lord. A titan has gone home indeed!”
He was reported to have suffered from sickle cell disease all through his life. Best known as the sickle cell survivor.
