Only two women, out of the 48 that contested for various elective positions in the just concluded general election in Adamawa, emerged victorious.
The two successful women are Hajiya Aishatu Dahiru of APC, who won the Adamawa Central senatorial seat, and Mrs. Kate Raymond of PDP, who clinched the Lamurde State Constituency seat.
According to a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report, of the 48 women that contested the polls, four were among the 29 candidates that contested for the governorship seat, while nine were among the 43 candidates that contested for the three senate seats.
The House of Representatives contest attracted 11 women, out of a total of 85 contestants, while the House of Assembly had 24 women contestants, out of a total of 284 candidates.
