How I lost my father’s interest over my career – Actress Jennifer Eliogu

One of Nollywood finest actresses, Jennifer Eliogu, has revealed how she became undesirable to her father for a while over her choice of career.

The actress in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, said her father was a strict man who had wanted a different career for his daughter.

Jennifer said her father had wanted her to be a lawyer and when she was hellbent on being an actress, she lost his favour.

She said her mother was always at the receiving end of his anger.

According to her, she had stopped going to school at some point because he wouldn’t pay for the school fees since she wanted to be an actress.

Jennifer said, “He was difficult. He didn’t even want to hear it. I was already doing diploma in UniJos. My dad always wanted me to be a lawyer. He felt that I was going to be a very good lawyer.

“It caused a whole lot of problems and my mum was at the receiving end. He kept saying, ‘is this what you really want to do? If anything goes wrong, you will not forgive yourself.’ And I was like, ‘I’m sure, this is what I really want to do.’

“It took a long time, very long time. I stopped being his girl. And you know what, I stopped going to school. He was like I’m not going to pay your school fees.”

She has acted in notable movies like ‘The Silver Spoon’, ‘A Little White Lie’, ‘Dear Dianne’ and many more.
