Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has rebuked her colleagues trying to defend Baba Ijesha’s rape case.

The actress dropped a video on her Instagram page on Sunday, April 25, 2021, stressing on the issue and stating how she felt about the issue.

In the video, she said there is no excuse for molestation and rape, so her Yoruba film colleagues should not try to defend such act.

She also talked about why the CCTV clip should not be shared contrary to what some of her colleagues are saying. She said the clip contained a child’s future and shouldn’t be messed with just because they are trying to defend their colleague.

Ojo also emphasized on the reason rape victims (both male and female) do not speak out because people are prone to turning things around to favour the perpetrator especially if they are “prominent”.

She said, “Ok, so this video is for my colleagues in the Yoruba industry, we all heard what happened to Baba Ijesha about the rape issue and since yesterday, I’ve been seeing a lot of posts, people using Baba Ijesha’s pictures and writing stuffs.

“Some are saying he was framed, some are saying we should wait. I just want to beg my colleagues. In no way should we try to defend him. Because this is one of the reasons why a lot of girls that are being molested, a lot of boys that are being molested and raped.

“Because not only girl-child gets raped, boy-child gets raped. This is why a lot of them don’t care to voice out most especially if they are being molested by a prominent person, a known person, someone in power or a popular person…

“They always try to look for an excuse. There is no excuse for rape. There is no excuse for molestation. There is no excuse for a pedophile. A pedophile is a pedophile. He doesn’t need an excuse to rape.”

She implored them to get the real story before trying to sabotage the real punishment.
