Chairman of The Independent National Electoral Commission ,INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has appealed to the media to avoid publishing any result not officially released by the Commission.
Prof. Yakubu who made the appeal this afternoon while briefing the press in Abuja said it was only the Commission that was legally mandated to publish result of the election.
He said he was aware that some citizen journalists and social media operators have been posting results on the social media, but advised that it was legally wrong
Speaking on how soon the Commission would release results for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, Prof. Yakubu said he may start receiving the results from the states at the National collation centre in Abuja today.
Already, Prof. Yakubu siad the result from Ekiti state was ready and this may be submitted in Abuja today.
Meanwhile,election is expected to continue in 10 local government councils in Zamfara state today while three local government councils would also conclude the elections in Benue state today.
