Nigerian Army convoy kills 75-year-old man in Katsina

A 75-year-old man has been killed in an accident, which occurred around Mani junction in Katsina metropolis.

On the account of an eyewitness, the accident which occurred on Monday, involved the convoy of the Commander, 17 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Katsina, Brigadier General Warrah Idris and Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim, in road traffic at Katsina when the convoy went to refuel and was returning to pick up the Brigade Commander.

It was confirmed in a statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, that the man died at the point of the accident.

“The convoy of the Commander, 17 Brigade NA, Katsina was involved in a road traffic accident on June 29, 2020, during which the death to a road user was recorded, ” the Army said.

“The late motorcycle rider was a 75-year-old man named Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim of Filin Samji, Katsina. The incident occurred when the vehicles went to refuel and were expected to pick up the Brigade commander later.”

He further stated that a consolation visit has been paid to the family of late Ibrahim by a delegation of the Nigerian Army led by the Brigade commander
