A ninth victim has been confirmed dead due to the crowd surge of the Astroworld Festival.

The victim, Brarti Shahani, who was among the injured ones, has been clinging to life since the incident.

According to the reports, Shahani did not show brain activity at Houston Methodist Hospital.

She was reported to have gone through several heart attacks at the event, but was revived and placed on a ventilator.

She however lost her brain activity shortly after she was brought into the hospital.

She had attended the festival with her sister, Namrata Shahani, and her cousin, Mohit Bellani, but they went separate ways due to the surge.

The family’s attorney confirmed the passing. She was said to have died on Thursday, November 11, from injuries she sustained from the incident.

Shahani was a senior at Texas A&M University.

Recall that eight other victims were confirmed dead and many still injured as a result of the Astroworld Festival surge.

Recounting her experience at the event, the deceased’s cousin Bellani said: “Once one person fell, people started toppling like dominos. It was like a sinkhole. People were falling on top of each other.

“There were like layers of bodies on the ground, like two people thick. We were fighting to come up to the top and breathe to stay alive.”

A total of nine people died and roughly 300 people were injured at the sold-out festival, which drew 50,000 fans.

Two others, including a 9-year-old boy, were said to be in critical condition on Thursday.

Travis Scott has been sued for the incident, even after he offered to pay for damages and the funeral arrangements.
