The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has declared that the

opposition will win the 2019 general elections and kick out President

Muhammadu Buhari from power.

Speaking against the backdrop of the election results in DR Congo

where the opposition won the election by defeating the incumbent

President, in spite of intimidation by security agencies and

manipulation of the electoral umpire, CUPP 1st National Spokesman,

Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, said that Nigerians are waiting for the

opening of ballot on the  February 16 to show President Buhari the way

out of the Presidential Villa.

He asserted that the result from the DR Congo is the final quit notice

to the Buhari Presidency to know that its time is up.

“They should get ready and know that under democratic rule, the power

belongs to the people and not any cabal of two or three people who

believe they have hijacked power,” the CUPP spokesman said.

While congratulating the DR Congo opposition candidate, Mr. Felix

Tshisekedi for winning the tense presidential election, Ugochinyere

stated that the result has further emboldened the opposition in

Nigeria that with clear cut issues-based campaign the consensus

opposition candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar can emerge victorious at

the polls.

He added that “victory is in sight and President Buhari will suffer

the most humiliating electoral defeat of any ruling party in Nigeria

due to his crass incompetence”.

According to him, President Buhari is following the same trajectory

which did not save outgoing President Kabila and his stooge and

party’s candidate from defeat.

He accused the Buhari administration of deploying the military

nationwide under the command of APC point men to hound leading

opposition figures and masculate their businesses ahead of the

elections.

“The tenure of  Ibrahim Idris as the inspector – general of police has

since expired, the niece of the President has being appointed by INEC

as the chair of the Presidential Election Collation Centre Committee.

“All these will not save President Buhari from defeat and Nigerians

will ensure he is sent back to Daura so that we can get Nigeria

working again,” CUPP maintained.

Ugochinyere commended Congolese citizens for speaking out loud and

clear at the polls that they were fed up with the Kabila government,

and for standing up to the government despite the use of security

forces and government sponsored thugs to harass, and intimidate

leading opposition figures.
