Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, on Tuesday paid homage to Osimawe of Ondo town, His Royal Highness Adesunbo Kiladejo, as part of activities marking the launch of Federal Government social investment TraderMoni programme in Ondo state.

He told the monarch that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration was committed to infrastructural lift across the nation, including Ondo State.

He said the Federal Government had invested much on infrastructural development and would continue to implement policies that improve the lives of the citizenry.

“N7.3trillion has been spent on infrastructural development of the country and we are still doing more. We just need the support of people to achieve this tremendous success, and they should say the truth at all times, most especially on the corrupt people of the nation. If they cannot expose them, all these will not be achieved” he said.

In his remarks, the monarch commended the Vice President and the Buhari administration. He urged the government to continue to promote programmes that positively touch the lives of people in the country.

He said Osinbajo was good ambassador of the South-West, and that the people were proud of him.

The Osimawe noted that Adeyemi Federal College of Education had been established for a very long time, and the 55-year-old institution still remained College of Education. He explained that though the school was upgraded by the previous administration to Federal University of Education and planned legislation to formalize the institution’s upgrade had passed through the House of Representatives and the Senate, it never enjoyed executive approval before the action was reversed. He urged the Vice President to use his office to help the institution for a lift into a university.

He also pleaded for rehabilitation of Ore-Ondo and Akure roads by the Federal Government. According to him, the roads are too bad for motorists. He said rehabilitation of the roads would boost economy of the state.

Responding, Osibanjo promised to work on the requests. He noted that as part of efforts to improve infrastructures in the South-West region, the federal government would launch the Lagos Ibadan railway transport “very soon.”
