Officers of the Nigeria Police have been drafted to take over the Buhari House national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Police, it was gathered, stormed the secretariat in the early hours of Monday, loaded in over five Hillux Patrol Vans to occupy the entrance to the secretariat as well as other strategic locations along the Blantyre street, without harassing passersby and the motorists using the street.
Reports claim police took over the party secretariat following rumours of plans by aggrieved party members to unleash thugs as a result of the leadership crisis rocking the party.
The party has been dipped in crisis since the last Supreme Court Judgement over the Ondo state governorship election, and the just concluded Congresses.
One of the security details attached to the party secretariat, who spoke to newsmen, revealed that the security agents acted on security report that certain persons have been mobilised to stage demonstration at the party secretariat on Monday.
“You don’t expect the party’s national leadership to fold their hands in the face of such threatening security report. They don’t want to take chances or watch the situation degenerate to the days of Oshiomhole when activities in the party was grounded hence the decision to mobilise the security agencies to protect the secretariat against any attack,” the security personnel stated
