Poverty, unemployment responsible for Boko Haram insurgency — Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said youth unemployment and poverty is majorly responsible for Boko Haram insurgency in Northern Nigeria.

The President, while speaking in an interview on Arise TV on Thursday, responded to a question on when Boko Haram attacks will end said he believes his government has done a lot to fight the terrorists but the problem in the North-East is very difficulty.”

Buhari added that a large chunk of Boko Haram membership are Nigerians as disclosed to him by Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.

Experts have constantly lamented that the level of poverty and joblessness in the North has increased geometrically with many embracing banditory and kidnapping for ransoms as an avenue for wealth.
