American singer, Robert Kelly, also known as R.Kelly, has been taken off suicide watch at Brooklyn jail following a face-off with federal authorities.

He was sentenced to 30 years in jail over charges of sex trafficking and federal racketeering.

The singer after his conviction had filed the lawsuit against the prison.

This had arose from him being put under surveillance for suicidal claims.

He claimed he was being subjected to ‘cruel and unusual punishment’ which violates 8th Amendment rights at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.

According to him, he doesn’t have suicidal thoughts but he’s been treated this way because of his status as a celebrity.

In a new twist to the ‘Storm Is Over’ crooner, the Metropolitan Detention Center Warden Heriberto H. Tellez, who is one of the defendants, told the media that decision to remove the singer from suicide watch is in progress following a ‘clinical assessment’.

He was sentenced on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Leighton Criminal Court in New York.
